A store for travelers that encompasses all aspects of a traveler’s needs from materials for researching travel destinations to luggage and accessories. The store also incorporates travel services from full time travel agents to foreign currency exchange and passports. The store was divided into two distinct zones – the retail travel store in front and travel related services beyond. The boundary between these zones is a curving row of “destination niches” that each contains books, maps and video information relating to a specific region of the world. “Gates” featuring multi-media presentations related to their respective regions mark the entrance to these niches. A 40-foot plywood wing, suspended from the ceiling above, draws one’s focus from the entrance through the retail store to the travel services area beyond.
