The result of a regional design competition won by Adams Mohler Ghillino, this bakery/cafe interior was designed to reinforce the unique, off-center identity of the client. To celebrate, rather than fight, an existing structural column at the center of the cafe, the plan organization spirals outward from the center. Wall murals, Lava Lamps, and other design elements represent a synthesis of design inspiration both prehistoric and futuristic -- what has been described as Fred Flinstone meets George Jetson. The open kitchen, with boiling and baking fully visible from the cafe, creates an atmosphere of "Bagel Theater" and highlights the freshness of the product.
