This house overlooks a wooded ravine and a Great Blue Heron rookery in Seattle’s Magnolia neighborhood. An extensive remodel by the previous owners had left the street-facing portion of the residence, containing the kitchen and dining area, largely untouched. The remodel included the demolition of this portion of the structure. It was replaced by a two-story addition containing a kitchen, dining room and powder room as well as a gracious entry into the residence on the ground floor. The upper floor of the addition includes a new bedroom, master dressing area, and bath. Other areas of the house were reconfigured to coordinate with the new work. Finishes include fir casework with concrete counters. New french doors, trellis and deck connect the new kitchen and dining room to the existing side yard garden.
